The S10 has to be from behind a 4.3 V6, the other V6 uses a different bellhousing pattern. All the 700r4 will bolt in to a truck, the TH350 with a middle lenght tailhousing uses the same driveshaft. A 700 from about 88 to 92 are the better choice, they have the best interials for the last of the non-electronic 700's. I got my 700r4 out of a 1991 G10 van and slipped it in an afternoon, my 74 truck had the middle lenght tailhousing so it was a simple trans swap. Oh yea I had to modify the shifter linkage slightly to get to smoothly go through the gears, I bet the later trucks the shifter linkage will work fine without mods cause these trucks got the 700 in 84.
