I have a 90 Suburban engine/tranny combo that I converted into my 85 C10.  All went well no issues as far as drivability, it runs like it did in the Burban even better.  I switched the whole enchilada over to the truck all the electrical... everything.  Now my question is can any of you possibly explain what I could do to have my truck fire up the first time the ignition switch is hit?  I understand that the system needs to remain pressurized for this to happen.  When I switched to EFI I changed the whole tank to an 87 model designed for EFI including the fuel pump I ran the sames line from the burban (of course shortening where I needed to) and the only rubber lines on the fuel system is where the 87 EFI sending unit meets the burban hard lines.  I even completely rebuilt the TBI, cleaning the injectors and reinstalled them.   I changed out the relay for the fuel system also.  I would like for the truck to fire pretty much as soon as the switch is hit so that I can install a remote start alarm system on it.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

my '91 fires up the first time, but, it turns over a few times (about 3 secs) when cold before fire-up.  When warm, I just bump the starter.  You don't say what your's is doing...do you have to turn the key on two or three times?  Does it turn over for 10 secs? 

I will say that there is a big difference in new starters versus old starters.  I thought mine turned over just fine with my old starter...it's just once in while it wouldn't catch (solenoid)--so i replaced the whole shebang and boy now she turns over FAST!  I didn't realize it was slow before until i put the new starter in.

Check your fuel pressure if you think it's fuel related.

Man, you've done a ton of work already. When I replaced the distributor, plugs, wires and put a hotter coil in my 87 it made a big difference in how the truck started.
The distributor is a Pertronix PNX-D1021 and the coil is an MSD-5526. You may not need a new distributor, but a hotter coil might help out.

It does fire up the first time I hit the switch but it take between 5-8 seconds to actually start running.  This would defeat the purpose of a remote start alarm because once it cools down again it will not fire right up.  It fires right up only when it is warm.  Has anyone used that fuel pressure adapter that allows you to connect a fuel pressure Gauge?  It connects between the fuel line and TBI right at the TBI.  Thanks Guys.

Could it be the fuel pressure regulator as this could cause you to lose your prime on fuel. It may be a cheap enough part just to try. This worked on one of my cars that took too long to start after cooling down(sitting) but ran fine otherwise.
