Dash Pad
« on: November 28, 2009, 12:05:42 pm »
The dash in my truck is in nasty shape. Sitting closed up in the Texas heat for years really did a number on it. I don't want to use a cover, that just seems like a band aide fix to me. How do i go about fixing mine? Is it worth it? A new dash pad is crazy expensive and often times it seems that after market parts like that and door panels just don't fit worth a d@mn, so i'm really not interested in going that direction. I don't want to pay 3 or 4 hundred for a part that just doesn't fit the way the original did.

Go oem all the way. I've yet to see an aftermarket replacement that fits correctly. The 81 up is available here http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=7&Product_Code=GM-8191PAD&Category_Code=DC

73-80 pads look on ebay and craigslist. If you aren't that good with upholstery take it to an upholstery shop and have them recover it.
