i did take a strip out on the outside. there were two pieces. i'm pretty sure it was a locking strip. i'm not worried about the glass, never was, i'm really not now that it's shattered.

i'm worried about the rust on the cab. it's rotted pretty bad and there's a few holes. it wouldn't be so bad if it was a fender or something you can replace fairly cheap and can bolt on. this is the cab, the integrity of the truck is ruint now >:( and plus where the rust is, they don't make a replacement cutout for that part of the cab. it's all down the pinch weld on the bottom wide part. i don't know what caused it to rust here. it will be expensive to fix this , if it can even be fixed. well thanks for listening.

Naaa id rather do that then replace a rocker..All u need is some new metal and a mig and some body hammers and dolley....Take off the old rust weld in the holes...If its to bad..Make a patch panel ...u can bend metal over a 2x4 or use a vise...

87swb, Can you post photos of the rust? We will have a better idea of suggestions by looking at it. Not to pick on ya' , I don't think anybody that has removed a back window thought you would say you broke yours trying to remove it. I'm a little concerned about suggesting a open flame or something around your truck, the way your luck is going I'm afraid your next post might start like: "well my eyebrows are singed & you can figure the rest for yourself" Will try to help, photos if you can. If you can find one at a junkyard you may be able to cut out a good section and weld it in just take as much of the area as possible to much from the doner won't hurt just trim to what you need. Piece of cake.

i don't know how to post pics. you'll just have to use your imagination. all it is is rust on the bottom of the outside of the back glass cutout, right below that pinch weld. i'm gonna lget it looked at. i like the idea of cutting out that section out of a donor truck but if i hired someone, which i'll have to, the labor expenses would go thru the roof by the time he cuts and welds all of that and smooths it up and primers it and you would need to paint it. that's another thing, you can't repair it without repainting the whole truck. as you can see in my avatar the paint is really good on it, not very old and it's two tone, and 2 tone paint jobs are the highest. guess i'll have to ride primer :-\

I know that finding your pride and joy has rust  and it's going to be seriuos work to repair is heartbreaking, but don't despare. The key thing is if you don't fix it now, you won't have a truck to fix later. The investment know is worth it. And as for as the repaint, because of the paints scheme, repainting should only require painting the cap. The cap( back top half of cab around window and roof) is usually paonted one color (grey  in your case, right?) then the top half down to the body ridge is red, from the ridge to the last quarter is grey, then red again. I may have gotten is wrong, but all of mine have had this setup, and it should not cost much to repaint that little bit. It will increase in value if repaired, but decrease to nothing if not. Hang in there and don't get discouraged, it will be ok. On the back glass, if you are near west texas, how many do you want???

OK I see it know, but the pinstripe and the top of the windshield and along the gutter can be used for a breaking point to blend the new paint too. most body shops can do this without flinching. Love the color scheme, beautiful truck
