got a closeup of the paint problems. My 87's roof has flaked off (from a repaint) and is now rusting in spots. My tailgate (original paint) is showing through now. If the paint is original I would attribute it to age.

That is a beautiful truck, and I am not even that big of a fan of red paint.

Sorry I can't offer any insight into the paint issue, but welcome aboard. Very clean truck.

If it is the paint and a repaint, the prep work might not have been done right. If it is the clear coat then it might be a cheaper clear. Other than that I know they had trouble in some of the 90's trying to cut cost at the factory that caused some of the paint to chip off. That is my 2 cents worth. At least I think it was in the 90's.

Beauty truck, I think all the auto makers had prep or paint problems at times back then. A lot of GM silver and blues have large sections where it looks like the paint just didn't adhere.
