Reason for changing, .... the Sanden 508, installed by truck's previous owner, is seized internally, not the clutch. It was in that condition when I purchased the truck. So with summer arriving, time to get ac running. The R4 doesn't seem to have a good durability reputation, so acquiring the proper Sanden, is my solution. Planning on making new hoses, and replacing the other "normal" componants. I've already flushed and pressure checked the evaporator. What other factors would you use to determine correct compressor applicaction? It seems to me, if I can match the pumping capacity of oem R4 with a Sanden, ...then I should be good to go. What am I missing?
