I have a 84 C10 LWB and I want to make it a long bed stepside, I have not seen many of them in our years. I have seen a bunch in the 60's, would the bed off a 60's truck fit my 84

 My 81 has a 8' stepside bed on it. I'm sure if you keep an eye on Craigslist you will find one. Not as popular as the 6' beds, but you see them on there from time to time.
 I don't think the bodylines from a 1960's bed would look right on your 84. You could always make a bed. My 82 that I just sold had homemade wooden sides and the fenders from a 50's truck bolted to it. It wasn't for everyone, but it is an option. 
 There is a 70's Ford 4x4 around my town that has a stepside bed with the sides made from diamond plate aluminum and it uses the stock stepside fenders painted to match the truck. It looks great.

I will keep looking for the stepside for mine then, yours is the first one I have seen it looks good. Someone told me that the beds off 62-72 would work, I wasnt sure figured I would ask, I want a factory looking bed so I dont want to make one, Thanks

  Like I said, keep looking and you will find one eventually. This bed came out of the junkyard about 12 years ago. It came off of an old power company truck. For some reason a few utility companies used these back then. This one was rust free but had lots of dents. It got new GM fenders,steps, headboard, tailgate, and an aftermarket wood kit with stainless steel strips for the floor.

I have one on an 87 3/4 ton parts truck. It was a Massachusetts state vehicle that was titled as a conversion vehicle because the fenders were replaced with reading side boxes.

Your right, just the 2 side panels and the supports were reused. Everything else was purchased new.
I'm sure that a good bodyman could have saved the other panels but keep in mind that 10 or 12 years ago you could go sown to the local GM dealer and purchase parts at reasonable prices. It kills me to think of what dealers are charging now.
