Deal or Dud pt. 3
« on: October 07, 2010, 11:47:49 pm »
I'm still in the market for another replacement engine. I picked up a 350 from my dads buddy and had an offer for a trade, 350tpi with a 700 tranny. decided to pass I wanna keep it carbed unless I can get my hands on a LS. Heres deal or dud pt. 3. I don't know how to do any engine work or what the best set up is but I do have the basics. I dropped off my 350 at a local shop for them to go through and just check it out see about putting in my cam and lifters along with my 350 trans that they are rebuilding. Come to find out its a 358. didn't have many miles on it when I picked it up just had a rebuild I was told but I don't trust anybodies word with something thats goin into my truck!!! The engine is extra but I want to replace my 305. I told them it was just an extra engine I wanted to build on and he said he'd buy it off me. Its complete so I told him 2000. Long story short he's waiting to get paid and I've come across a complete 427 with extra set of heads, pistons, and intake. stock stuff he's replaced with some add ons for 1800. DEAL or DUD??? Not sure about the big block change or what I gotta do. I JUST WANNA GO FAST!!!!

Did you buy locally and they shipped it? I'm about 130 miles away from my nearest "REAL" yard.

Capt I wouldn't mind that deal coming from a trusting source for one but I'm not close enough to come pick it up!!!!

I did find an LS1 out of a z28 going into an IROC. Guy decided to work on another project and was letting it go for 1100 with 160,000 miles on it. Headers looked kida rough and either it was a painted manifold or somethin aftermarket that looked like trash. Guy said he ran it fine in the donor z28 for about 100 miles but once he pulled it to do the swap he never go to it. I've done a little reading on carbed LS set ups and they get over 500hp easy from what I understood with little mods. I'm just not sure about computers and such since I'm starting out new in this truck building stuff but, I know the results are worth it
