Frustrated with truck

I know this is just going to sound like a rant so sorry, but have any of you got into the situation where a family member insists on doing something on your amazing Chevrolet truck and then they get about half through painting your truck, and you realize that wow, they put over spray and spills paint on top of everything you painted(chassis, inner fenders, radiator support) and you just want to tell them to stop and give you your truck back? but even after that they still won't they insist they want to finish? I am just steaming right now......sorry

I am in that same situation but with my house. My brother-in-law is a perfectionist however in his attempt to roll my walls and ceiling he really stretched the paint and there are streaks and dry spots everywhere. Probably get away with that on semi-gloss paints but flat is another story. My wife is after me to let him do it again but after 2X, 2nd with a thicker nap roller, this paint is expensive and so is his labor...

Yea to make it worse, is Ive already bought 2 gallons of paint plus all the required mixing materials, and he is out...and needs another gallon for the bed and the top of the hood. Does that seem like a lot of paint or what? Also at 140$ or so for a gallon aint making me feel any better.

It looks like the paint job is almost done- are you satisfied with the exterior? The areas you mentioned are at least under the panels so they won't be seen frequently. It sounds like he's using too much paint. Tell him you'll finish it up. It's your truck and you need to be in charge.

Yea like the guy above said, it's better to not get involved with family. It would start a pretty big family feud. I wish I could have it. Theres still the bed, tailgate, and top of hood to go, so yea I think he's used some on something else in all honesty, or he spilled a good bit some where down the line. Its just a tough lesson learned. Its so bad because slam fest was next week and I got some buddys riding over there we were gonna cruise it out, and check out other peoples trucks.

dude I know what ya mean there! I only work with my bro cos we both have areas we specialise in. I save him labour and skills and vice versa.
When I work on my truck I do 99% myself so if i'm not happy with the result I've only myself to blame. I am a bit fussy on a lot of points!

Yea just an update on this....not that anybody cares haha, well I finally had it with the whole situation, I had been going over there spraying things myself, and just in general trying to get it done when I can make my way over to his shop. So I went over there Sunday afternoon and he says I put the doors on, Im thinking great? until I see he banged the front of the door into the fender, and chipped off tons of paint, and then when I look at the inside of my fenders I had sprayed chassis black I see that he oversprayed all over them. So I just took him to the side and had a man to man, and explained how hes wasted 3 gallons of paint(about 500$) and how Im right back at square one and I'd just appreciate it if he could stop working on it, or anything on it, and bring it back over to my garage.

It's too bad it had to go that way. Like they say, if you want something done right...

Yea in short it went over there so he could weld a few things on it for me, which he did fine, and then it just sorta spiraled on out with when he would bring it back. I hate that it happened to, but better now than be going through it all during the holidays never fun to be feuding through the holidays.

If you want something done right unfortunately you typically have to do it yourself.
