T5 Transmission? ??'s
« on: February 20, 2011, 12:40:30 am »
So I've pretty well decided on a T5 for my 74. It's working days are behind it, I'm even thinking about shortening it before long, my question is this:

What is the difference between the regular T5 and the world class t5. Also, what are the differences between the blue oval and bowtie versions.

My truck is gonna see mostly freeway miles and the engine runs great, I'm not changing anything anytime soon engine-wise, just lookin for advice on the tranny

The WC T5 Is what I would use from the line up of T5s from my research-If I remember right it is made a little stronger and has a little taller 1st gear-set for a little higher performance. btw-I ended up coming across an nv3500 so that is what I'll be using. However an nv4500 would be my 1st choice.

The NV3500 or 4500 would be my top choices as well, but I don't really have a grand to spend on the transmission.

I've been seeing WC T5's for $250-$400 on craigslist and I'm pretty sure it'll work with my mechanical bellhousing. Eventually I want to put a T56 in it, but that is a long way off, like when the truck gets a new frame after I finish school in a couple years.

I know what you mean, I gave up looking. Then one day I stopped at the trans shop for something else and saw the nv3500 sitting there. I asked about it; it was rebuilt and not paid for 2 years, I paid his bill of 400 and took it home.

As far as the t5 goes
look here for ID info

Get the best you can buy for the money, the WC is a better offering.
