4x4 light in dash
« on: January 22, 2014, 08:05:37 am »
My 4x4 light is hanging below the dash under the steering wheel when I shift into 4x4 it lights up so it works. My question is where in the dash bezel does it go? Upper center over the speedo? My bezel is from another truck so hopefully I have a spot for it.

Another question Does anyone know where I can buy those metal clips that plus into the gauges through the printed circuit I'm missing a couple so the gauges don't work. Thanks!

The truck is a 86 V20 350 TBI

It plugs in right above the gear selection numbers shine a flashlight close to the dash and angle it so you can read what's behind it. The bulb just goes in the whole with a quater turn you may have to remove cluster

Are you talking about the metal clip or the bulb holder?

I think he's saying it fell out of the cluster and is not sure where it goes?

Yes, it fell out of the cluster and I don't know where it goes. I don't have a spot above the gear selection so I'm a little lost.

There are two light positions in the bottom of the speedometer, and two in the bottom of the fuel gauge.  The "4WD LOCK" film should be for one of the two light positions in the instrument cluster basket behind the speedometer.  They shine through a hole in the speedometer gauge face.  I think it's the left one of the two on mine, but if you shine a flashlight from the firewall against the back of the instrument cluster basket on the speedo side, you should be able to see it light up.  The bulb holder on the end of the 4WD switch pigtail plugs into the back of the basket in that position and locks in with 1/4 turn.
