What kind of paint?
« on: October 12, 2004, 01:48:00 pm »
Am trying to repaint my dash bezel. It's all black. I have removed the silver outline around the gauge holes. When I cleaned it with denatured alcahol, it left swirl marks. I think paint will cover the marks ok, but wonder WHICH kind of paint I shoud use to do a decent job. I will outline the gauge holes again. Anybody ever paint with another color-
to match the interior?
Enamel or acryllic or ?
Thanks.

That Krylon "fusion" rattle can paint. Looks good and it sticks to plastic real well after it is cured. I did all my interior plastic with it including my dash pad and the factory floor mat. When you do the bezel, spay light coats so you do not fill in the texture. If you want your silver (or any color) highlights back try one of those paint pens they use for painting plastic model cars and such. While I had mine apart I even painted my guage needles to match. (looks good but hard to see at night.)Good luck!

I thought of using one of those glitter paints for the bezel.:smokin  ,  but chickened out.
Light coats, ok. I need the texture.
I found a pen that paints with silver leafing, and it comes real close to the original gauge rim. I tried it on my old broken bezel and it did ok.
Thanks 79.
