Adding Grab Handles
« on: June 02, 2015, 04:25:30 pm »
While wandering around picknpull the other day, I noticed that some of the suburbans had grab handles (oh **!! bars) over the front doors.  Because of the headliner, I couldn't see if there is a different in the roof of that and my regular cab.

I would like to add some of these to my '83 regular cab truck.  I know there must be some space between the inner and outer roof skins, as the trim pieces screw in.  So if I were to run some good quality stainless screws into the roof skin right above the door trim, about how long of screws would i need?

Anybody added grab handles to thier regular cab?

In the 200 plus square body trucks I've had I never investigated what is under a Silverado or headliner equipped truck but I have to believe the cab is the same for the Scottsdale and Custom Deluxe without a headliner and they are double lined, which as long as the screws aren't too long you should be able to put them on your headliner equipped truck cab.

They are bolted, not screwed.  There are rubber expansion type t-nuts with 1/4 20 bolts.
