Pulled all the parts from an early 80s Suburban, swapped them into my 1989.  All the holes in the frame for the ZBar mount were there, and even an obvious place where the clutch linkage leaves the cab.  Purchased a new clutch kit and flywheel for the 89. Everything went super smooth.

When I fired the truck up, the clutch will not release fully so getting it into a gear is nearly impossible.  I have it adjusted to where the throwout bearing will have a constant preload, and things still do not shift correctly.  Something is wrong.

Clutch disk is NOT installed backwards, and the throw out bearing is on the fork correctly. Just took the trans back out to verify.

Any input?

No I did not. I've done clutches previously and never had to worry about it.

Would that really be enough though that the truck would move forward with the clutch fully depressed? On a scale of 1 to 12 how boned am I?

Did you put the spring in from the Z bar to the frame?  The spring attaches to the frame from the z bar to help keep the clutch fork disengaged.
It's been a LONG time since I have been called a newbie. Just sayin....
