Emblems

This is my first time writing to the message board but I check it out a lot.  I find it very interesting.

I have a 1977 C30 Scottsdale, and I'm curious to know how the emblems are attached to the vehicle.  I think it is the same kind of slip nuts the grill moldings use, but I am not sure.  I just had my truck painted, and the body shop after pulling the emblem used double stick tape to reattach the emblems.  I know this is not right.  I would also appreciate any easy ways to get inside the fender to attach the emblems back on.

Not to sure about the 73-80 trucks, but on the 81-87's there are two nuts holding the emblem on, and in order to get at them, you need to remove the fender. The shop might have used tape because they broke the nut studs off. The ones on my truck were broken, so I had to use double sided tape.

I just had my truck painted also, the shop used a type of push nut. It sets in the hole and the emblem pushed down on it, I know this is not factory but works very well. The push nut look like little cups with a slot out of on side.

The push in nuts you mention are sometimes refered to as barrel clips.
