Mud truck rebuild

well in may we'll have another mod bog. i plan on replacing the cam in the truck, i dont know whats in it now but i know its OLD ive had it since about 2003. but i also plan on replacing my clutch, thinking about a new clutch also. think i put a 12" in so im thinking about a Ceramic Button its 160 compared to 117 for the reg clutch at autozone. i dont know what cam to get and i guess it should be biased off the heads and intake that i have so ill get some numbers sooner or later. hopefully get both richs' to help me out and have a nice running engine

i tried to call autozone to find out my clutch that i got from them 7 years ago. they should be able to look it up but she didnt want to take the time to help me, so i guess ill have to stop by and show them how to use the computer. she said she looked at all my vehicles and didnt find where i got a clutch but theres about 10 listings for my name under the same number and each name has 10-20 different vehicles.

have to wait till tomorrow til i get numbers and stuff. the clutch is 7+ years old and it hasnt been a easy life for it, ive had it slip a couple times in the mud so i kind of want replace it as a reassurance

A HD button clutch is aggressive and probably a good choice for mudding.  The more pucks and heavier the spring, the better.  But, you'll develop leg muscle like Alley Oop and might be hatin' it for awhile. lol

lol. the bad part is my left leg is my knee i had 3 surgeries on so it might be a bad deal but if its a more aggressive clutch it might be worth the pain as long as its not a DD

I ran my truck at the Halifax Ma Mudfest last year.
I paid the entry fee, but I didn't get any bragging rights.  I sank like a rock 3 runs in a row.
  I still enjoyed it.

thats the reason i didnt want to put my crew cab in it lol. at 7500lbs and the cummins she might make it to the back tires are in the pit then she would be done.

That diaphragm cover shouldn't require any more pedal pressure than stock.

The ceramic button clutch will definitely hold better and build less heat.......but just remember it is like having a toggle switch instead of a clutch pedal. It is either in or out. Not much slip at engagement. I beat the snot out of mine behind a strong 454. It never gave a whimper and I lost count how many times I had my old '77 hooked to the sleds at the county fairs.

I personally like the Borg & Beck cover over the diaphragm. The B&B has a slight centrifugal quality whereas the diaphragm will not. Sad thing is the B&B is very difficult to find. Zone discontinued the B&B about 2 years ago. They are still available on fleabay.
