dodge v10 8.0L troubles
« on: December 26, 2015, 04:24:05 pm »
well after the truck has been abused by some family members that are now banished from the family due to other problems, i think im going to get my pop pops 2wd dodge 3500 dually. it has the v10 but the idiots that were driving it before some how messed the engine up and had it towed home. then he started to take it apart got to the push rods to find two all bent up and i think went through the head gasket. idk anything about how the v10 works or much about dodge. i know the v10 and cummins share the same transmission bolt pattern but thats it. anyone know of some good sites or info i can get a hold of??

Find a Cummins donor truck, & swap in a real motor. Those V10s, or the Ford Triton V10s have never impressed me any.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

this has crossed my mind a couple times. my uncle has a 24v about the same year but with a blow transmission. his plan was to put his motor in pop pops truck but the whole family knows his mechanical capabilities arnt up to par. i could do it but its not worth doing it for free (cause hes family). i remember my brother driving pop pops truck years ago when pop pop was still around. i didnt remember it really impressing me on the power side. but does make 410 ft/lbs at 2400. but the price tag on repairing the v10 in the long run might make it better and cheaper to get a 24v and be done

Check out dodgeforum.com. I have a Ford Excursion with the V10 and love it. I don't know anything about dodge's V10. The Ford V10 is used in a lot of commercial applications. They are very reliable.
