NP208 Transfer Case Options...
« on: November 24, 2005, 12:51:00 pm »
Got an 81 1/2 ton w/SM465 4spd Tranny. I cracked the NP208 Transfer Case and can't find one in a junkyard that was mated to a SM465. Someone told me one from a Turbo 400 would fit and that they are the same 32 spline that I have. Is this true? I don't want to spend $800 for a new one. Any info would help.

Its been a while but I belive there was only two input shaft sizes and tooth counts, 32 teeth and 28 teeth. I am thinking not positive but the TH400 and the 4 speed are the same and the TH350 and the 700R4 are the same.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Can I just weld the crack? I know it is aluminum but I have heard of people doing it.

From my knowledge, what Blazin posted is true.  It Depends on how bad the crack is whether it can be welded or not.  A good aluminum welder can probably tell.
