Lift Kit and Install
« on: January 14, 2005, 10:54:00 am »
What is a good 6" Lift Kit for a 81 shortbed? Where can I get one at a good price and how hard is it to install? I will be putting 35's on it.

Any of the top brand companys make good lifts.  ToughCountry states they have the best ride: www.tuffcountry.com/suspe..._6987.html

And they are reasonably priced.  Of course you are going to get different opinions from different people.

As for how hard, you basically have to remove the complete suspension/axles from the truck.  It will probably take a novice a complete weekend or more to do the install.

As cheap as new leaf springs are from various sources it is as cost effective to swap them out, than to get them re-arched. I highly recommend replacing rear springs than putting blocks under them for a lift...
