Full time? Are you are talking about auto hubs? When I was justa kid my ex brother inlaw took the front shaft out of his Blazer that had atuo hubs. It wouldn't move at all. Never tried it since then.

I don't think so, Gd8. Most full time 4WD systems won't provide power to the rear differential with the front differential disconnected. But you might look for a kit that you can install to get it done.

If you have to drive it couldn't you just remove the rear driveshaft.

Hi, I took the front driveshaft out of my '77 1/2 ton chevy and my dad did the same in his '77 3/4 ton in the summer to save on wear on the front axle rotating parts.
I remember we just put the transfer case in four wheel lock (Hi) and the truck operated as it did when the front driveshaft was in. That transfer case has somewhat of a differential in it and transmits power to both axles until the rear slips to much then it is just rear only until it is manually locked in the cab. I think to my understanding when you take the front driveshaft out it is not sensing anything there so it just spins your front output on the T-case, kinda like a axle differential putting all the force to the tire with the least resistance. Both of these trucks were Full-Time with the 203 transfer case. I hope this helps and is somewhat correct.

If it is true full time 4x4, then you could do it, but you would have to put the transfer case into hi-lock, which would defeat the purpose. I had a 76 K-10 full time, I just made sure that everything was greased and in good shape and drove it every day for over a year(in regular Hi, not hi-lock) and it did fine. These were weant to be driven everywhere, just like anything else. So, yes, you would be fine as long as all u-joints and fluids are good.

If I were you I'd splurge the $ to turn it into a PT. I think WARN still offers that kit for a reasonable price...

Remove the front shaft, shift t/case into high lock.
To keep the diff from rotating remove the center caps then remove the gears and spring that lock the hubs. Might as well repack the bearings while your inside the hub. And check those ball joints if your running larger tires.
