Anyone know a good place to pick up a used 6.0 and 4L80E combo...

I watch Ebay and Craigslist, the going rate is about 2 g's...

I am aware of turnkeyengines.com...

That is about the norm for one with everything you need.  What are you hoping to spend on one?

I bought mine from Hi-way auto.  I'm not sure if they are nationwide, but it was about $1700 shipped - 2001 or 2004(can't remember) 6.0 with 24,000 miles, longblock w/no accessories.  You may want to check classified ads for good local deals.  Somebody on another site was selling a longblock(unassembled) for $900....I think it just needed the crank cleaned up and some new bearings.  There's actually some guys down here in south texas who claim they can get them for $1200-1600 depending on condition.  $2000 doesn't seem bad as long as shipping is included in that.

I was thinking 1000.00 - 1500.00.... Guess I'll just  hope to be in the right place at the right time!

I would say that would be JUST an engine, and it won't be the late 2000 -3006 LQ4 with aluminum heads or the LQ9.
My brother has been holding out for a low cost one for about 2 years, and he just wants the engine only since he has all the accessories from his running 5.3L.  The cheapest he has found so far for a aluminum headed LQ4 at $1200.  He has found Iron headed LQ4s for $600.

There is a place in Texas where I found them for that much.  I will have to ask my twin brother where.  Keep in mind it DOESN'T come with anything.  It is just a engine with no harness, no computer, no accessories (no even a water pump.  It would be for putting it in a 1999-up truck that already is setup for a motor.  Plus it is the aluminum headed LQ4 only.  LQ9s will run you a min of 2500 regardless of mileage.

This is just a quick reference as it would take me forever to type all of the diffs down...
The genereal difference in the LQ4 and LQ9 is the LQ9 has higher compression (earlier models used different heads, now they use the same heads) later models had flat top pistons where the LQ4 has dished.  The LQ9 also has a different camshaft with more lift, duration and overlap.  It also has a less restrictive exhaust for the Caddys.  This is 2002 - 2006 LQ9 Caddy motors and 2001-2006 LQ4, the Caddy gets the 6.2L L92 now.

Keep in mind all 1999 and most 2000 LQ4s had IRON heads.  You want 2001-up LQ4's with aluminum heads.  They swith to the LQ9 head (317 casting) I believe in 2005.

oh ok yea i was lookin at complete setups since its what im going to use when i build the 71-72 blazer caus i'm gonna be buildin that one as a daily driver so i'm gonna want the complete deal... is it worth the extra money to have the LQ9 over the LQ4? i plan on beefing it up down the road aswell w/ either a H/C setup or a maggie/whipple if that makes any difference as to which one i should get

The earlier LQ9's had better heads (later ones have the same) and the cam is different.  You start with more power going with the LQ9 (45 more) but it is a simple change.
These are pretty bullet proof as they come.  I don't know what an H/C is, but I would turbo it for power, it is infinitely adjustable.  That is what we are doing with mine and my twin brothers.  I plan to put 2 on mine...
