Where to find information??

Hi I'm new here, I just got a 85 K10 and I love it! I'm wondering though if there is a place that will tell me more information than HP and TQ on my 305 motor. I'd like to know what the CR, cam specs, things like that. I've done google searches for about everything I can think of pertaining to what I'm looking for. BTW, it's a Code F 305. Any information would be great. Thank you.

The (from memory) LE9 Cam has .398/.410 lift and 196/202 duration, CR was 9.2:1.

also, where on the engine or truck can I find the engine code so I know if it is a LE9 for sure, or one of the other 4 or 5 305's that chevy had? thanks.

The engine code in on the front pad of the block, block casting is on the rear at the bellhousing flange.
The only 305 offered in 1985 for pickups was the LE9.  Check the RPO sheet in the glove box if still present.

awesome, I actually thought it had a different 305 in it, but checked the RPO and is says it is the LE9 like you said it would be. so now what I need to know is what the limits of the LE9 are. how much more power can I get out of this 305? I'll have to do some searching around.

I probably wont be the last to say, a 305 isn't really worth building, you're far better off getting a 350. If you want to throw some cheap bolt-ons on there that can be transferred to a 350, start with a good dual plane intake and dual exhaust, preferably with a good set of tri-y style headers (for low to mid RPM power), and an open element air cleaner (or flip the top upside down on your factory breather).

there is some good info in there. I think I'm gonna build this 305. I don't really like the fact that everything has a 350 in it, I mean everything. It is disappointing when I go to the track, or just out on the street. Anyway, I think with my previous experiences I can make this engine a high torque little beast which is my goal. It's got 240ft/lbs now so another 100ft/lbs or maybe a bit more should be doable.
