Vent window weather seal
« on: February 02, 2008, 04:14:58 pm »
I've tried searching for procedures for replacing the vent window rubber seal.  Which rivets did you grind off to remove the glass so the seal can be replaced?  Are the rivets aluminum or steel and what size?  I have a rivet tool.

If I grind off the SS rivet that the glass pivots on and replace it with a SS machine screw and bolt, would the bolt work loose from the pivoting that would be going on?

Thanks in advance.

I just replaced these on my 74 and I don't remember exactly which ones I ground off but it's obvious which ones you need to remove when you look at it. Just get an assortment and make sure you have a small enough rivet gun to fit inside the window channel. Why would you grind off that rivet and replace it with a bolt?

Thanks for the reply Vile.

Blazin had suggested it in another post I read - when I did my search.
