Vapor?

I have mentioned that I think my carb is runnin' really rich. Not sure if this is part of it but...
Sometimes when I turn the truck off, vapor (basically white-lookin' smoke) will slowly come out the tailpipes for upwards of 15 minutes! When I smell the vapor it smells like gas. The only times I have noticed this is when I start the truck for a short period of time (say 10 - 15 seconds) then turn it back off.
Is this part of the carb runnin' really really rich, or something else? Has anyone seen this before? Other than adjustin' the carb, is there anything else that would cause this and/or is it something extremely bad?
Remember, I don't want to get killed dead!

Well you will get killed until you die if you keep huffin on that tail pipe.
Does it restart hard after you shut it off and let it sit?

lol
It seems like the longer it runs the worse it runs. The first start of the day will be great. I can stand outside the truck, lean inside, turn the key and VAROOM. Actually, most starts are like this but if the above mentioned situation happens, when I try to start it back it'll start, but the idle is really low and it sounds like it is just barely runnin'.
The other thing I've noticed is that when I first start it I'll get 60 pounds of oil pressure. After it's warm and I'm drivin' I'll get 30 pounds. But if I have to stop for a stopsign or light or traffic, my oil pressure will go down to 8-10 pounds. I don't think the 2 cases are connected, but thought I'd mention the oil pressure thing, too. It's a 305 -- I've never had a 305 with good oil pressure, but I'm not sure how low is too low -- even on a 305.
BTW, I used the Gunk you suggested on the engine yesterday. Now my block is orange again. I had to get after it a little with a nylon brush, then wipe some white residue off after I cleaned it with water, but it looks 100% better! Thanks!

8-10 psi at idle is normal operating range for any SBC.

Have you checked your oil to be sure there's no gas, coolant, or tranny fluid in it? If the oil's contaminated there will be a whitish residue on the bottom of the oil fill cap.

Yeah, the oil looks good. I can't figure it -- turn the truck off, vapor (looks like smoke really but since it's not runnin' I don't know if you can technically call it smoke?) comes out the tailpipes for 15 or 20 minutes. It doesn't do it all the time, so maybe it's nothing.

I think its normal to "vapor" like that. Mine does it, too. Until you get fuel completely burnt, that's what it's going to do.
