Good headers for a stock '82

I installed a set of Jeg's brand 1 1/2" OD full length headers on my K10 manual trans truck and I am very happy with them.  They do not hit the shackles.  I picked these because they were $89 and 16 gage not 18 gage like most of the "better" brands.  My motor is a stock 350 so the slightly smaller OD will not even be noticed.  I fabbed up a system using 2 1/4" tubing (could have gone with 2 1/2" but again with the stock motor I felt it would be better)  and 20" Dyno Max turbo mufflers.  I managed to add a "H" pipe in front of the mufflers and I dumped in front of the rear wheels.  I don't have pictures but will add them next week if anyone is interested.   I haven't run it yet but it should sound nice and mellow.   PS: You need right angle spark plug boots to clear all the tubes.

I hate when the exhaust exits before the wheels. I think it looks much better behind the axle.

The only thing about a front exiting system is it makes a lot more resonance inside the cab.

I know it may be a little louder in the cab but with those big mufflers it should be fine.  I came off the mufflers with 90 degree bend and dipped under the front spring eye straight out the side.  I wish I had used shorter mufflers so the pipe could be angled back a tad.  Next time.  I had a set up like that on my 66 and it sounded great.  I'll post pics Monday.

My dad's '76 chevy pickup had the dual exhaust exiting right before the rear wheels on each side.  He had cherry bombs and no cat on them.  That 327 sounded soooooo great!  As a teenager,  I loved driving that setup. 

Fast forward to today and with great memories of that truck, I took my '79 Big 10 383 stroker and emptied those duals before the rear wheels with no muffler and just cylinder cats.   The diameter of the pipes are 2 1/2. That system is sweeeeeeet!  I find myself driving that truck with no destination in mind.  Just driving.  I love that truck.   It sounds remarkably similar to dad's old truck, even though I replaced cherry bombs with cylinder cats.   I still have to pass state inpsections here in VA, so gotta havda cats.

Here's the pictures.  I started it the other night and it's very quiet but I only ran it for a few seconds (no water in motor).  Road test after Christmas.  Merry Christmas to all!!

i'm sort of with Mr. Vile on the before the wheels exit thing.  i guess for a truck it may be ok.  i don't care about looks either way;  My main concerns with exiting before the wheels is 1) noise and 2) slightly greater possibility of the fumes getting inside the cab vs. if the pipes went all the way to the rear.


But i guess it will be alright---after all, those bigblok corvettes and cobras had them.

The other thing is, wouldn't this make the rear tires a little hotter?

I'm looking to put some headers on my truck, would these Jeg's be a good choice for me?  I have a '85 C-10 SWB with a stock 350. The truck has been lowered 3/5. I noticed Jegs also sells some shorty headers, would this be more for me since the truck has been lowered?Thanks for any input.

I can go either way on the side exit. I had that setup on my 70 Monte back in the day with Flowmasters and didn't notice a whole lot of resonance. Before that I just had Cherrybomb header mufflers and that's it. Coulda threw the radio out.
My truck has 2.5" with no H-pipe and Flowmasters with turndowns just before the rear. No resonance or poppy glasspack sound and pretty throaty with a stock 350.
