Converting to manual windows?

I hate GM power windows, I've never found one 80s/90s GM vehicle that didn't have something wrong with them. I'm tired of playing with mine and I want to convert the manual. Before I do that I want to know how hard is it. I was planing on going down to the junkyard and pulling 2 doors and swap the guts out. I know people convert to power, but honestly cranking windows isn't that big of a deal to me

It's easy to do. What's wrong with your power windows? Maybe it's an easy fix.

It just as simple as removing the glass/regulators on both and bolting them in.

One side is binding up, the other side isn't working, I've just never had good luck with 80s/90s power windows with GM vehicles

I've done it to my truck it was well worth it, lot less to worry about

Binding is usually from rotted run channel or loose tracks.  Sometimes they need to be bent back to alignment.  Not working at all I would suspect the motor.  Does it even make a sound.

I changed all four out on my dually  once you get past the first one they come apart and go back together pretty easy. I believe I added photo's of them in my webshots for reference.

I hate our years power windows they are always too slow and the switches go bad often.

Do you happen to know which way they typically bend? If it's a factory defect type of deal i mean. I thought that might be whats going on with my truck's binding windows but i was afraid to just go bending on them without some knowledge first.

No it isn't a defect.  It usually results from 1) rotted run channels that never get fixed and then 2) the owner rolling it down and it jumping track and bending it towards the door.

Well i know these trucks have their fair share of factory defects, but i managed to fix both of my windows yesterday with WD-40 
It seems they just needed a little oil to get going again.

^ That works until water from washing the vehicle or rain washes away the WD40 and then you are back at square 1. Been there, done that. My driver side works fine but my passenger side is always slow and ends up stopping 2/3 up. I have to rock it back and forth with the switch and it finally will make it back up. That, and my pass side wiring likes to wiggle out of the switch, which is just a push-in setup that's kind of lame when you think of it. But, I guess that's early 70's engineering for you. One of these days I'll go back in there and put some actual thick grease in there.

I use either white Lithium or axle grease on the tracks.

My truck has manual windows and the passenger window currently sticks 1/2 up and is a fight to get it all the way up.  So putting in manual windows will not necessarily fix your problem which sounds like the window tracking.  I will be switching to power windows when the doors get changed, you gotta admit it is nice to be able to roll down the passenger window while rolling down the street without having to endanger everyone on the road.
