On an 84? It's common on the 73-80's but on the 81 up not so much. Did you close the hood on something? You can elongate the holes but that usually isn't necessary.

Marc, Get a buddy...loosen the back bolt on the hinge & lift up on the front of the hood while the other one pushes down in the back & tightens the bolt. This should fix you up, Lorne

No i didnt close the hood on something. the hood is as strait as can be. When i bought the truck the guy before me put another hood on from a diffrent truck because the original hood was rusted. I tryed what you said lorne but the nothing happens. the bolts are all tight and when you loosen them and push down on the hood it will go down almost flush but then just springs back up. could it be possible its an earlyer hood? is there a difference? im dumbfounded
Thanks Marc :D

They're the same 81 up. I would suggest looking to see if the hinge is damaged/bent/cracked or if the hood is physically seperating from the inner structure. Are all the bolts tight? Can you take a few pix?

You need to take some better pics. Too hard to see what's going on.

I would like to see that corner from the outside (where you took the other pic's) with the hood open & one from the underside. Does your door match going up the windshield post & at the roof with a proper gap? How about the fender to the door? If you put the cowl panel in (install the screw loosely) does it push down to be flush with the fender? How about pulling it up to match the hood?
The jamb area looks real smooth (that's what made me think it was 'glass) can you see wrinkles in the metal & a couple spotwelds in the area you posted? Maybe it's been bent & smoothed up with filler? What happens if you remove the spring support & close it? Lorne

k i cant take any pics of the door cause both a them are off. both doors are aftermarket. I have thought about taking the hood spring out and seeing if it will close tighter. il take pics tomorrow the hood sticks up alot past the fenders doesnt it?

sorry i took so long had to change cab mounts first. anyway i took off of the hood spring support and it still wont close. so it must be something with the hinge. no wrinkles and no spot welds there isnt any rust around the hinges believe it or not. hood is strait  its not seperating from the inner structure either. hood lines up at the at the front just not the back. il try for pics tomorrow again

Mine is kinda the same. Sticks up about 1/4" at the back but seems to fit tight at the front.
