I would discourage any attempt to add HID lighting to these trucks, most of the time you end up with insanely high glare and no improvement in light output, unless you know for sure the person knows how to and has the equipment to custom make reflectors for the projectors. The housing should look MUCH different. A better solution is to convert to standard diffusing headlight lenses but with the replaceable halogen bulb, and use a set of silvania silverstars. Low glare (assuming you get the lenses WITH the factory style diffusers, NOT the crystal clear), but much more usable brightness. However, if the guy knows how to make reflectors that are projector-compatible, then by all means, go for it. HID lights are great, IF they're properly designed. Expect to pay $1500-$2000 for a PROPER conversion kit.
BTW, sweet idea with moving the turn signals, I've never thought about that in a 73-80 truck. I'm very interested in seeing how it turns out looking when installed.
