New girl from Georgia
« on: March 29, 2009, 06:46:06 pm »
Hello everyone  :)

My name is Drina and I am from North Georgia. I was looking for a forum that was specifically for 73-87 Chevy trucks, so I found this site through Google.

I have a Greater Made Chevy technically ;) It's a 1986 GMC 1500. Right now it has a 350 crate motor, but I have a project going on that involves a very sweet 454 BBC that has been bored just a bit. The truck has all the bells and whistles including a nifty alarm which might just be the best thing about it electronically. It has a 700R4 tranny that I will be waiting on to blow as soon as the BB goes in. When it goes kaboom I have another one waitin'

I do drag race the truck. Right now the best is a 15.48 @ 87 if i remember correctly on street tires and no suspension work. It has a 10 bolt rear end :( So I DON'T want it to hook especially once the BB is in. If it hooks the it's bye-bye 10 bolt.  :P

Looks like a nice site and most likely I will lurk at first and make some random posts until I get use to the flow of the site :D

Some pics

This is the motor, but right now it does have ram air on it...

Welcome aboard, Drina.  Awesome truck.  How'd you do your ram air setup?

Welcome aboard, Drina.  Awesome truck.  How'd you do your ram air setup?

I know a guy who fabricated the box up for me, and the vents were extremely cheap. They are normal vents for your drier, lol.

Here is a pic of what the ram air looks like. That motor is no longer in it. It was an aluminum headed 350 that didn't like my truck very much. I had a serious electrical short that really messed the whole truck up. I fried TWO MSD boxes :(

Cool.  I'm sure the engine doesn't mind the drier vents; all it cares about is the cold fresh air. ;)

What do you mean the old engine didn't like your truck?  Big cam against high gears and low stall?

Welcome from West Texas, awesome truck. I wouldnt worry about trashing the rear end. They are pretty tough, and if you do, then you have a reason to upgrade axles and gears. Besides, if it doesnt hookup, you wont really be able to enjoy tripping the lights at the big end as much.

Welcome from New Hampshaa. Good to see another woman on here.
