Brake Line Extension Brackets
« on: May 04, 2009, 02:24:29 pm »
Hey everyone... just a quick question...   I am in the process of installing a 4" lift in my 87 chevy.    I am at the point now where I have to install the front brake line brackets....  I can't for the life of me figure out how they are going to work....

I would really appreciate it if anyone could walk me through the process and also if someone who did this already might have a picture.....    i'm talking about the small "L" brackets the kit supplies you with.... how does this all work without taking apart the brake line itself.....

thanks and I appreciate the help...   OH and this is for the front.....  the back i figured out already  :)

Mike

Nobody loves me??  :)  hahaha   Actually I figured out that there would be no way to put the extended front brake brackets on without breaking the connection between the hard and flexible lines.  So I came up with a plan....  I cut a space out of the stock bracket so i could slide the brake lines away to make room to install the longer bracket..in the original location.   Then i also cut a slit in the extended backet where the brake line attaches to I could slide it back in...

I am sure I confused everyone.... but it worked   without breaking the conection and then i would have to bleed them....

I am inside now... but I will take some pics tomorrow and post them...  still waiting for spring bolts to finish putting it all back together......  had to cut them out also :(

Thanks
Mike

Vile.....

Thanks for the reply....  I figured that but after looking at it for a few i figured i would come up with my own way....  and it worked i would proud of myself...  So I also ended up bending the bracket almost flat as it was a better angle to install the lines...  In addition I was able to reuse the stock clip to hold the line tight to the bracket as well...

Here are two pics:
