Anyone order from RockAuto.com?
« on: July 13, 2009, 01:18:09 pm »
As the topic suggests....

Anyone have any reviews for RockAuto.com.  I'm looking to get some new fuel tanks and they have them for 1/2 to 2/3 cheaper than anywhere else for the same tank.  They're labeled as Spectra Premium, 16 gal, for 49.79.

The total bill for 2 tanks, 2 sending units, and 2 pairs of straps is 280.46 after shipping.

The deal sounds too good to be true, so that's why I'm asking you fellows for some feedback.

Thanks,
Smitty

I have ordered from RockAuto on several occasions and, based on my experiences, highly recommend them.  Excellent prices, customer service, and incredibly fast delivery (they must have a distribution center near me, because I almost always recieve my parts within 2 days of ordering).

By coincedence, I have also ordered that exact part - a Spectre 16 gallon tank (one of my factory tanks was rusted and that price was too good to pass up).  The only thing I had to do was bend the seams where the brackets wrap around the tank, but I expect you'd have to do that with any replacement tank.  Oh and wear gloves.  Those seams are sharp.

I just ordered the EFI sending units for mine from there. Good quality and fast shipping. I'm happy.

I bought most of my front end parts from them and highly recommend them.

They sent me the wrong springs and the process of returning them for the right pair impressed me.  It was very FAST, like one day after i dropped the wrong springs off at fed-ex, the new ones were delivered.  They actually sent the replacements out before they got the wrong ones back.  Good site!

Thanks for the responses guys.  I knew I could count on you.  The order goes in once I get paid for the last side job I did.

Thanks again!

When I snooze, I lose.  Finally got some cash to drop on the tanks so I went to Rock Auto and the price has jumped to $80 for the same tank.  What a pisser!!!!  Is it common for their prices to fluctuate this much?  If I wait a little longer, might they come down some, or do I just suck it up and make the purchase?

SPECTRA PREMIUM Part # GM1A
20 Gallon; Ahead Of Rear Axle; Lock Ring Kit Included

 $79.79 $0.00 $79.79

The sprectra was the one listed earlier in July for $49.79

Anyone have any thoughts on the Sherman brand?  Is a tank just a tank?  I don't really want it if it's made from lighter gauge steel.
