Just won myself another project.  If the frame turnes out to be somewhat clean it will be the new chasis for my blue truck.

Government liquidations is where you can find them.  They are pricey.  Hang on to your wallet, it will go fast. Just got back for a ride in my blazer.  I love that thing.

It depends on the shape but I have.  I still havn't seen it in person and still waiting for my End Use Certificate to clear so I can pick it up.  I don't expect that to be the case.  I beleive the engine to be robed blind and not sure of any fork truck damage yet.  Time will tell

After over two months of waiting for clearance I finally got it home



The cab is in great shape, the frame is in so much better shape than I expected.  Never been this excited about a project.  It was missing a lot of parts and the fork truck the military uses caused quite a bit of damage.  Good news, every serviceable part on the entire truck has Aug 08 written on it. 






Just have the cab and box left on it now, should be down to bare frame this weekend.

Iirc it should have the 6.2 diesel.

Yup, it's a 6.2 diesel.  I pulled the engine last weekend.  I have two more bolts to fight tomorrow and the box comes off.  Then try to round up some help to carry the cab.  That's always fun.  I did consider putting this truck back together when I saw it but it just needed too much and wasn't my intensions in the first place with it.  Now I have decided to get another one of these to keep in running condition.  Very cool trucks.  Just killed me to see all the good parts they robbed off this truck and through the junk parts they replaced in the back of it.  I still can't figure out why it was decommissioned, the best guess I have is the rear leaf springs are broke on both sides.
Then it was open to robbing it blind of good parts?

From what I have heard from military recyclers, they assign all trucks a lot number when they come in for repairs, if they are still there waiting for parts or being worked on and it is time to pull X amount for retirement, it doesn't matter what is wrong with them. 

A guy I bought one of my blazers from runs a recycler for the military.  He had one come through that had a broken front seat mount.  that was it.  It was scrapped.

Didn't get to taking the cab off yet but pulled the box last weekend.

Down to the frame.  Started in pulling rivots today.  Got all the spring overload brackets off and shock supports.  Started other misc rivots and going well.  The best way I have found is still to centerpunch them, drill a sharp 3/8 bit into the head and hit em with my air hammer punch.  Now that the cabs off, I'll do all the side and top rivots and flip the frame to do the bottom.  Much easier drilled when your not drilling up.
