Working on '81 stepside
« on: September 02, 2009, 05:34:09 PM »
HELLO Guys ...

I am back after sometime massaging my '82 K15 stepside  8)
some of you was generous enough to share his/her opinion of things I do with my truck, when I asked for your help
http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=11273.0
so .. I finally got my stuff together and started working ..
Against all votes ( 71.4 voted for Dark Pearl Blue ), I got it covered in ( Ice Blue Metallic ) so U gotta forgive me for this guys  ::).

Bought some parts from  , got a set of 10" used wheels, bought a salvaged pair of seats, and painted the truck in Ice Blue ..

are the pictures of what I did so far ..

Vile, Capt.,  Devious

Unfortunately 75% of parts available in market are "Made in Taiwan" .. and I am a "GM" guy
I wasn't happy in particular with the vent rubber 'coz it was twisted & won't be fixed easily
other stuff was neat but not close to the OEM looks

69byrd ..
Glad you like it ... its a '07 Ford - unfortunately - Ice Blue Metallic

Let them sit out in the sun and use soap and water to ease installation. The vent windows are tricky because they can easily bend out of shape after you replace the rivets. I usually put a tack weld for some rigidity.

Vile ..

Thanks for the tip ... I will try it and hope its as easy as it sounds

Here are my news up to now ...

Installed cap rubber parts, new front winshield, and a replacement '85 grille and new F/R bumpers ..
Just bought a set of 33" Maxxis to be fit on the 10" wheels
The truck will be at a friend's shop for a week ( to work on interior )

I'll post some pictures as soon as they're ready

Thanks everyone for your support
