2 years of work and still going

Hey.  This project has been one for the ages, and it's still not complete!  I searched for 3 years to find a 1986 all black Silverado to build, and now I am into to 2 years on rebuilding it.  I have added a few pictures to my photobucket account so you and see some of the things I have had to endure.  So far I have over 300 pictures of the build so I can make a small website to show what I had to do to make the truck of my dreams.  Here are just a few.  http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii269/REVINKEVIN963/ Don't mind the pictures of the Camaro.  That car belongs to my 5 year old girl.  She likes when we do donuts in it.

Can I ask where did you get the front roll pan? I already have the same tailgate skin and a rear roll pan. But I can not find a front roll pan for my 79.

I found the front roll pan on eBay last year.  It is an 18 gauge piece that was a true pain to get to fit.  You have to cut down the front frame rails where they come out to mount the bumper.  I will add a couple of pic of that.  I will say this though, it was worth it. Every person that looks at it loves it.  I wired in and intalled the crystal clear light set and the billet grill.  All of the slots to mount the old grill were welded up and finished.  So was the piece under the hood.  Thanks for nice words.

Thank you.  It has been a long time coming.  I still have to hook up the digital dash and put the interior back in.  The stereo is going to be a challenge as is the solid window kit.  I am going to use one of the new JL Audio shallow mount 13.5" subs in the back.  I have to find a way to hide the two amps and two component sets as well.  I need to post a pick of the seat I had redone and the dyna mat install.  I had to keep the bench seat because I have a 5 1/2 year old girl who loves riding around and going fast.  I have added a few more pics.  One of the dash install with the help of my friend Jason at My Mechenix in Rosenberg Texas.  One of the bedliner and one of the Buick GNX fender vents that were installed to help the 406 get heat from under the hood.

Those vents look pretty good on there. Way better than those cheapie stickers. And they're functional!

Thank you.  I had never seen this done on a truck like this.  My Camaro has a 406 in it as well.  These motors can get hot.  The truck was going to be black so I wanted to find a cool way of getting rid of heat.  They turned out pretty nice.

Thanks.  The front roll pan is one of those ideas you have that really puts a doubt in your head after a couple of days of frustration.  Now you can't even tell where it was welded in.  The people that have seen the truck go right to it.  They rub it and look at it from every angle.  One guy asked if I could do that to his truck.  That was an easy answer.  NO!!!

Yes they do.  I have an aluminum radiator in the truck and the car.  South Texas gets so humid and hot that it is really just self defence.  I really like sbc 400 engines with AFR heads and large solid lifter cams.  They sound real good and with the large bore, they move a lot of air.
