At night, a deer and 55 mph, not good...
« on: January 22, 2010, 08:15:34 pm »
Coming home with my new to me used double bank Snap On tool box, got major bummed out... probably a total because the trucks worth but still driveable...  Took out the grill, tweaked the front bumper, damaged the RF and swung around and creamed the passenger door.  For as hard as it hit I really thought it would have been worse but I have only seen this at night.  First ever bent metal on this truck so it hurts a bit.  I guess I need to step up my pursuit in a totally new extended cab body for my frame.  Wish it was summer...

Glad you are ok. Deer can be tricky my buddy had one run into the side of him (saturn) all it did was put a hole in the plastic fender and rolled off the hood another friend going about the same speed saw it at the last second tried to swerve hit the edge of the road over corrected and flipped a caddy.

Only time I ever tagged a deer was on Raton Pass, driving a big truck. Fortunately, I was cresting the hill and going pretty slowly, and the bumper corner on my International was soft plastic. The driver behind me told me the doe spun around, ran at me for a few seconds, then took off through the woods. I'm a bit of a granny, so I'm usually able to avoid critter impacts... now where's some wood to knock...

Going to work at around 10 at night in a 95 beretta i owned in 2000 .The corner of my eye i saw something move fast and i slammed on the brakes.A good sized buck slammed into the front fender pushing it way into the hood, his antlers put holes in the hood, he broke the pass side rar view mirror off and his backside put a good sized dent in the rear 1/4 panel. It got fixed and i got rid of it shortly after.Everyone was busting on me "you get the plate of that hit n run??" Then in 04 my insurnance jacked up like double,i called allstate and asked them what is this all about?? Well you did file a claim in 2000 i said yes i did i got hit by a deer and that was in 2000 this is 2004 what is the problem here?? Shortly that day i called allstate and cancelled my policy. And went thru another insurance company and they knew of the claim but said it wont affect my coverage..So i know how ya feel man it sucks indeed..

thanks

I know the feeling.  It really sux when a deer damages your vehicle.

I had a similar experience when I was in college and had restored my '65 Mustang and enterred it in Concours correct car shows around Washington D.C.  Then one day.....

Just looking at my insurance card I carry $100 deductable on comprehensive so I might come out all right, if they believe I actually hit a deer.  Got to search underneath for clumps of fur.  I know it doesn't look bad but this truck, although rusty, everything was in great shape, no dents, bumper lined up perfect, not even a shopping cart ding.
