« on: February 08, 2010, 10:31:32 pm »
my brother just picked up this sweet 74 C25 3+3!   Its always been his dream to have a 4x4 lifted crew cab...  so we were thinkin of the mighty conversion?  lookin for any tips, advice, or helpful expeirences?  we snooping around for a dana 60, have (multiple) trannys and t-cases lying around...  its a shame.. the tires are near new on the old stock wheels  with halfy hub caps!!

P.S. already ditched the awesome home made lumber rack and running boards..

Good call on the ditches  ;) You can convert it or just look for a donor to do the swap (a lot less work but maybe a little harder to find).

your tellin me!!  the K3+3s go like hot cakes!!   and not mention their overall condition is usually banged up..  where the 2wds, are generally straighter bodies and nicer interiors..  sometimes..  this one isn't actually that bad...   plus it was cheap!!

Get a donor 4x4 1T and start pulling parts off.

I have a 76 3+3 C2500 that I picked up ($250 and a Honda Generator) from a guy which sat in his field for 10 years after a 2wd to 4wd conversion. He put all the running gear off a 75 Chev K25 3/4 ton under it and swapped out the 454 for a rebuilt 350. Not sure of all the details since I did not do the swap but could take pics and post if your interested. The 3+3's are awesome trucks!

Hey, there is a 3/4 ton K suburban out her near patterson in the central valley...I dont know what year it is, the front clip is missing. If you cant find a donor out there in the 707, I try to stop and ask if this guy wants to sell it.
