millitary
police
fire
emt/parmedics
these items SHOULD NEVER be on the cutting table.

i prefer walk softly and carry big sticks and bandages.

there are tons of frivalish(sp) earmarks, grants, and other stupid stuff that is nickle and dime the contry that needs to be removed/pruned out.

it's called pork.  Just as bonuses are contractual, even if a bank fails, tax money goes to give employees a "bonus" for a failing business.  If it's part of their salary, make it part of their salary, not a freakin' bonus.

Now, I went back home over the weekend to visit my mother on mother's day.  They have torn up a perfectly good 2-mile stretch of road to straighten up the curves and repave.   There was nothing wrong with that road!  Why straighten up the curves now, after decades of it being just fine.  It is a bad economy out there.  I have received no raise in nearly 2 years because of it.  Teachers are taking "required" days off to save money.  But, they are spending 20 million dollars on making a road straight when the gov't has no money?
Where's the freakin sense in this? I want my raise!  My cost of living isn't going down any!  In fact, they are raising fees on everything from going to the dump or trash removal or water/sewer fees and not to mention insurance costs.   Cost of living is going up, salary is staying the same. No raise in sight.  A two-miles stretch of rural road is being straightened however.   :-\

I say the border patrol is a waste of money...atleast down here.  Down here, there are whole families that make a living off hauling illegals and making tons of money doing it in front of and around border patrol agents.  Somehow, they manage to bust the people hauling the illegals, then let them go within a few days(sometimes hours).  I've even known a few females to get released on the scene of the crime.  Every few weeks you'll see the BP make a bust, but most of the time you'll see them "pimpin" in their 2007+ Tahoes and Ford trucks...not doing anything.  The criminals down here make a minimal effort to hide what they do and everybody in town knows/sees what's going on, but not the BP.  They're getting paid to just sit at various spots in town and miss all the activity that goes down in front of them.  I think the government should either do away with the BP or pay someone to make sure that they're doing their jobs.  Why spend millions to catch 20 illegals and let 90 more walk in.  The system is corrupt and a waste of money....especially when there's illegal immigrants working as BP now.  I heard of 2 that were busted in this area working as BP agents.
