there are tons of frivalish(sp) earmarks, grants, and other stupid stuff that is nickle and dime the contry that needs to be removed/pruned out.
it's called pork. Just as bonuses are contractual, even if a bank fails, tax money goes to give employees a "bonus" for a failing business. If it's part of their salary, make it part of their salary, not a freakin' bonus.
Now, I went back home over the weekend to visit my mother on mother's day. They have torn up a perfectly good 2-mile stretch of road to straighten up the curves and repave. There was nothing wrong with that road! Why straighten up the curves now, after decades of it being just fine. It is a bad economy out there. I have received no raise in nearly 2 years because of it. Teachers are taking "required" days off to save money. But, they are spending 20 million dollars on making a road straight when the gov't has no money?
Where's the freakin sense in this? I want my raise! My cost of living isn't going down any! In fact, they are raising fees on everything from going to the dump or trash removal or water/sewer fees and not to mention insurance costs. Cost of living is going up, salary is staying the same. No raise in sight. A two-miles stretch of rural road is being straightened however.
