Died out of nowhere, now won't start
« on: June 05, 2010, 11:33:41 pm »
'83 Chevy C10 Custom Deluxe, 350, Edlebrock 4BBl Carb + manifold

Went to work at 10pm no problems, lunch at 2am and truck started to start and then nothing no clicking nothing. Got off at 7am and truck started to turn but then nothing. Charged battery installed and then + cable was corroided and broke in two, put a new cable (Which had to replace again cause it got to close to the header). Truck started fine, waited maybe 20 minutes for brother to come get me so I could take my truck and he take his, truck dies in the middle of the highway can't do anything, gentleman in his Ford 350 pulls me home. Any ideas?

- Battery: Charged and tested Good
- Starter: Test great (only a couple months old)
- Ignition Coil tested good
- Ignition Control Module tested good
- Carb is getting fuel
- Bypass starter with screwdriver and truck turns over but doesn't start
- Turning the key results in nothing no lights, radio, no sounds

check the wires at the starter the little one make sure its on tight and not damaged. test it if you have a volt meter when the key is "on"

You probably burned up a fusible link assuming you put everything back together correctly.

Ok, I'll double check the starter connections and check into replace the fusible link. Very frustrating
