Tailgate ?

Will a 77-80 gate go on a 86?.  I have reviewed the differences to ID them on http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=15684.0 and used the search function to see if the question was covered.  Looks like it would but I want to know for sure.  Thanks in advance.

I have my 78 on an 87 bed but I did have to remove the rubber bumpers on the bed so it would close right. So yeah it should fit.

Good to know, thanks.  What anti-rattle bumper stops are on the 77-80 beds if the newer style have to be removed?

The hardware on the bed is different but it will all swap over.

So if I am reading this correctly... If I am to put a 77-80 tailgate on my 86 bed I will need all the hardware that bolts to the bed off the 77-80 style?  I am probably better off finding the right one for the bed.  Thanks for all the input.

Yes, the hardware that bolts to the bed will be different. and FYI 81 up gates fit nicer.
