1960 to 72 cab on 1985 frame???
« on: August 03, 2010, 07:17:16 pm »
New guy here with a off beat question.  I have a 1985 3/4 ton chevy 4x4 frame in great shape and would like to put a cab on it from 60' to 66' or 67' to 72'. Whatever I can find.  I'm not worried about the box I'll put a nice flat bed on it.  Has anyone here done this?  Got any advice?  Also pictures of one that has been done like this or similar would be GREAT!  I've been lookin nearly every night on like for over a month for pics of this type of project and have found zero!!  Thanks for the help!

Anything is possible if you can fabricate.  I have often wanted to use a big back window 64-66 should I ever find one and put it on the newer frame and if I ever won the lottery have it made into an extended cab.  The wheelbase is shorter on the older but if you are putting a flatbed on it, that shouldn't matter.  Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the welcome.  I can fabricate, but I have never done body work.  If I could I would love to do an extended cab too!  So I guess I'll be waitin' to win the lottery also!

i have had the same thought. in the back of truckin mag there is a nice lifted 67-72 chevy. my 85 cab has rust issues and i thought why not look into it. i love the 67-72 trucks. i have only gotten as far as looking into it.
