Clutch for NV4500 Conversion?
« on: November 17, 2010, 09:03:49 pm »
Hey all.  As some may know, I'm putting an NV4500 in my 86 K20.  I've got most of it figured out, but I'm stuck again...  I'm not certain what clutch & flywheel I should use with this swap.  i'm using the stock GM bellhousing from a 96 K2500, and i've heard that the stock clutch for my 86 doesnt work well with the internal slave cylinder.  so, does that mean I should use a clutch for a 96?  i need suggestions, this is the only thing holding me back (aside from the poor Pennsylvania weather, lol).  and while on the subject, what would be a good brand to go with?  I do a good bit of work with this truck, so I wanna get a good strong clutch set, and good flywheel.  Any suggestions on that would be great too.  If anyone has a part number to give, that would be awesome.  Thanks for everyone's help!

Not sure about the clutch but what you do for the transfer case

what engine do you have and what year is the engine? You want to make sure you are using the correct flywheel and you would use the clutch kit for the 96

VileZambonie, 350 4-bolt, 2 peice rear main seal, out of a 79 van.  forgot to mention that, sorry.  so, just use the clutch for a 96?  ok, any recommendations on brands?  like i said, want a good strong clutch.

Irish_Alley, transfer case is an NP205 32 Spline, bolts right up, when using the correct adapter from Advance Adapters.

Thanks to all so far!

32 spline output.  use a pre-1984 NP205 T-case from behind a Turbo 400, it will bolt right up, when using the correct adapter from Advance Adapters.
