wiring upgrade
« on: November 19, 2010, 06:49:51 pm »
I needed to fix some wires under my hood and decided to run a cable directly from the battery to the alternator, convert to a 1 wire, run a cable from the battery to the junction block and connect the accessory wire from the starter to the junction block. This makes everything nice and simple. My question now is, i'm installing an aftermarket carb and need to hook up my choke, i have one wire left over from the carb fuel solenoid, is that a 12v source and good for an electric choke? Also what size wire should i buy to feed the junction block? Keep in mind the alternator has a seperate 4awg wire directly to the battery.

I would run a new fused wire from a 12V switched source on the fuse panel for your electric choke.

I'm not saying that's what that wire is. I'm just suggesting you run a new wire altogether for the choke, as per any aftermarket carbureter manufacturer's suggestion.

i realized what you were saying, i was just hoping that wire already went to the fuse block. If not i might cut the other end off from wherever it goes inside the car and hook it up to the fuse block, since it's not in use and that way all my engine wiring goes through the connector. I gotta trace it out when i get a little time during the day.
