Finding the year?
« on: January 28, 2011, 11:11:30 pm »
My Suburban is titled as a 2 wheel 1985 diesel. This is because this is what the body came from and the guy I got it from wasn't sure of what it was as it was done as a father son project years ago and his father has since passed. I know there are marking on the engine and frame but I'm not sure on where. Are there any other ways?

Have you tried decoding the vin? That'll tell you all you wanna know about the body, and what it is supposed to be vs what it is now

Ya i have checked the vin but non of it matter the body is a from 85 and all of what the vin says but it was thrown on a different frame. The original body got eaten by Wisconsin winters so a body from Arizona was thrown on that was originally was a diesel 2 wheel like my vin says.

Look on the frame but depending on the year of the frame it will be in different locations. Look near the steering box, look on the passenger side frame rail just behind where the door is. You'll find it but if it's undercoated you'll have to scrape it down.
