My 84 stock 305 burns a little oil, not a big deal.  It doesn't smoke and I check it often to make sure it doesn't get worse, or run too low. 

Recently I've noticed that when I check my oil or add any there is a milky condensation on the top of the dip stick near the handle, and it is also on the inside of the oil filler cap.  I wipe it clean, then check it a few days later and it is there again.  The oil in the pan is clean.  Any ideas?  How bad does this sound?  If I had the money to replace the engine I'd have done it already.  This 305 is absolutely gutless, but I need to drive this thing for a while and save up a little before I do any more work to this rig.

Sounds like your getting coolant in your oil.  Has the oil pressure dropped at all?

If it's not smoking I would suspect it's just condensation, although it may be the start of a head or intake gasket leak. Check your coolant level and carefully spill some oil out of the pan with the drain plug and see if water comes out first.

If its over filled on the dipstick; that is a sure sign that your are leaking coolant in to the oil.

How far do you drive it when you first leave after its been sitting say over night, or all day at work. If you don't have a long commute then it might just be that the engine is not getting up to full temp. Building some condensation. Thats where it collects.

I have 9 - 14 mile commutes daily.  Due to heavy traffic in certain directions at certain times of day I have to take a different routes to work and back home.  The short trips / not bringing up to full operating temp is extremely unlikely with my driving habits.  I haven't noticed a significant change in oil pressure readings, but I'm using the stock gauge so who knows how accurate that thing is.  

So far this new issue doesn't seem like it's going to have a very positive outcome.  I'll just baby it along until it dies then try to figure out where to find that money to replace the engine.  One thing for sure, next engine that sits in my shorty will have some balls!  I'm sick of having zero power.
