Hi Guys
I want to remove the outer rear bearing on my C30 Drums but the cage that holds the rollers seems to be bigger then the hole, so how does one remove the outer bearings

Can't think of your rear but I want to say you have to replace the inner also and the outer goes in from the inside once the Inner is out

I remember reading something in the manual about the 1 tons being different, but if it is like my 12 bolt, there is a tool that looks like a spreader disk you insert into the bearing and then you pull the bearing and "cage" out with it. I will look tonight when I get home and report back.

I know on my 14 bolt I took a grinder to the inner race then used a chisel to break it in half the outer race i used press to push it from the outside in

My manual says the best way is to use a "arbor press" or it says to use the hammer and drift method. It states "use a hammer and a long draft pin to knock the inner bearing, cup, and oil seal from the hub assembly" The hub and drum assy must be removed to remove the bearings and oil seal. Hope that helps, I personally took my axle apart, but had the shop that set up the gears replace the seals and bearings, the axles were off the vehicle and stripped so it made it easier on them.

Hi Guys
Thanks for all the input it is appreciated.
After reading all the posts it would seem that you have to remove the the inner bearing and seal first and then remove the outer bearing through the drum/hub from the rear.
So how do the bearings remain lubricated, if there is an oil seal stopping the oil from the rear end flowing through ??

You are correct, the inner seal and bearing must be removed first and then the outer bearing come out of the inner bearings hole.
The bearings are lubricated with gear oil that flows to them from inside the rear end.
The inner seal and axle shaft seal just keep the oil inside, they do allow the oil to go back and forth from the axle tube to the rear end.
