Quadrajet?

So I installed my new edelbrock performer EPS intake and MSD ignition bla blah blah. I went to put on my new holley 670 truck avenger but there is a vacuum fitting right behind the carb bore and the back of my truck avenger hits the top of it and won't mount flush to the intake so I don't think I will be able to use it. Having said that, what is everyones opinion on a quadrajet? I have read that they are superior off-road carbs. Anyone have any experience with the edelbrock qjet?

     The qjets if rebuilt right and tuned right in my opion is the best carb. for these trucks.  They were made for these trucks.

I have a factory qjet on my truck and I love it. It gets me 8mpg as apposed to 6mpg with an edel 650. No coughing or sputtering on any terrain. And, how far off is the carb to the intake? You might be able to use a carb base spacer.

I already have a 1" spacer and it was still hitting. I think I am just goin to change the fitting and run the vaccuum line right into the carb.

Would I a 90 degree adapter, move out of the way? What does the fitting go to? Brake booster? Transmission?

To confuse the issue further, if you don't want to mess around with rebuilding a quadrajet, the holley 4175 is virtually a bolt-in replacement and brand new at $375 ish.

It's not exactly the same, but should bolt up with no problems.

Unfortunately, from what I can tell the performer eps intake can only take a squarebore carb unless you want to use an adapter. Take us a picture, and we might be able to give suggestions on how to proceed.

+1.  Takes a good mechanic to rebuilt it right but you can't beat the factory Q-Jet in my opinion.

i posted a picture of it in the "engine/drivetrain" forum under "intake manifold vacuum fitting" or something like that.... the fitting is a two peice and goes to the canister for the hvac controls and the transmission modulator.

oh I remember that now. Yeah, that black ball you can put to manifold vacuum on the carb itself and then run the modulator to that port on the manifold.

I just installed new 670 street avenger on my new 350 and it performs great, no issues and has nice smooth performance.
