Ok so this question is actually about my 97 5.7 vortec. I can't get a good answer anywhere else so I thought I would throw it at you guys and see what happens. Anyway I had 2 fuel pumps put in it last summer while I was in school and it quit again in the fall. I needed a good reliable vehicle so I bought a new truck and the 97 sat in my yard all winter. When the dealer put in the 2nd pump it would always start but immediately stall when the engine was cold. Everytime you crank it sounds like it wants to go but just won't. I put a fuel pressure gauge on it and with the key on it goes up to about 58 psi. When cranking it drops to about 42 psi then back up to roughly 50 psi when I stop cranking it. I haven't searched for specs but that doesn't seem right to me. Anyone have any ideas? Sounds like the pump is shot again but there is obviously something else going on in order to kill 2 pumps in a matter of 3 months. The first one was a napa pump installed at a chrysler dealer. The second was a gm pump installed at a gm dealer. The gm dealr installed a new fuel filter as well as a fuel line that as corroded if I remember correctly. Anyway got any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks
