my 2-55 A/C is broke

Since the factory equipped A/C needs to be charged and I haven't had the time, I've been running my 2-55 A/C.  It seems to do fine in the mornings and at night.  I got out at lunch today and holy St Francis it was blowing nothing but HOT!  I cracked open the driver's side cheater vent and got more airflow from the system, but still just hot.  Any ideas?

You could upgrade to a 2-65 system, or a series 3 setup if you have a sliding rear window ;)

Check to make sure the blend flap is closed and not diverting hot air into the vents?

Is the truck running?  Or is this the Blazer?  If it's the Blazer you always have the back window.  LOL

Grim, the upgrade can get expensive if you get caught using it.

Chris, it's the Blazer.  If I open the big third I go home smelling like exhaust (bad cat I think).

@Roger I live in Florida and had a Sonoma that all of the above was wrong it like like 255 degree heat.

On the really hot days when running my 2-55 system, I unplug the heater fan from under the hood as the switch will only turn it to low.

Install a ball valve in the heater hose and close it during the hot months.

It's the project for this weekend though.  I've got all the parts collected and ready to go.  Just gotta get up early enough to work on the truck before it hits triple digits.

Borrowed my Dad's Tahoe for this week, since yesterday & today are 114F and he's not going anywhere.

Is the compressor bad?  That is the most expensive part.  Check around for the 134A, I found it for $10 a can, everywhere else wanted $15+ for the same thing.

I don't know what all is bad, but the system is still R12.  I'm replacing the compressor, evaporator, orifice tube, plus the hi & low pressure switches.  I'll probably do this one like I did with my '98, replace all the components then have the mechanic pull a vacuum and charge it for $100.

That sounds expensive for a vac and charge. Carefull with the orifice tube line!!!!!! I destroyed my lower evap core line while trying to get the orifice tube out. I had to use a orifice tube repair kit and rent a flaring tool to flare a new nut onto the line because I had to cut the destroyed piece off.

Might be, but it's worth it to me at this point.  I don't have the equipment or the experience, and I don't want to fool with it if I don't get it right the first time.

I've broken off an orifice tube inside the line before.  Not fun!  Never damaged the line before, but I know to be careful.
