new lights for rear
« on: July 15, 2011, 07:00:10 pm »
well my reverse lights dont work that well on my dually so i got some bosch square fog lights from a friend for helping drop a motor in a car and he gave them to me. i mounted them on my step bumper since its the only place to give full use for what i got them for. plus i got them wired in with the lights and it comes with a switch so you choose if they are on or not when you turn ur driving lights on
switches off

switches on look at rear lights as its on also

pretty nice relay has wires all telling what goes to what and i used the brake lights wire for parking lights to have them work off of

heres the box they cam in if people want to know what they look like i got to say pretty good work on their part just had to extend some of the wires to reach the back of my truck

thats why i have a switch to turn them off so i can still use my regular lights with out the fog lights they are only there for when i back up and for when i need to see something behind my truck stopped at night. i already knew i would get pulled if they on since it would blind people cause i tested them out when it was dark they shine over our flood light in our driveway

watch out for those parking lots.  I can see someone at WalMart pull up behind you to park and BAM!---there goes one light.  Keep your hitch in place  ;D
Also if you use your truck to haul anything like I do, ----let's just say they wouldn't last long on my rear bumper.  Hate to be a pessimist, just sayin.
On a good note, I'm sure you can see well behind you.

I am with sgt del, If you have the skill, I would mount them in the rear bumber so the lights are flush with the outside of the bumper, they way they are protected and would look way cooler.

I had a guy bring me his Excursion one time that he mounted a set of flip up firebird/ fiero headlamp assemblies under the rear of it. He had me wire it up so when he puts it in reverse the lights flipped down and the headlights came on. Talk about lighting the place up! When he shifted out of reverse they flipped back up.

me too, but no ticket. shopping bag hit the switch when i got back in the truck so i later installed a dummy light to tell me lights were on. now they are hooked up properly with a relay kit.

my setup came with a relay kit it will only come on if i have the switch on and my parking lights on. so i shouldnt have a issue as i dont get groceries with my truck the most it doesfor the store is if im picking big things up or getting fishing bait to go try and catch a few. other than that its parked unless i fell like just cruising in the most smooth wide ever barely feel any of the bumps and things down the road no big pop you out your seat bumps it just bobs if i hit something like the transitions from pavement to concrete bridges. got to love the weight yet hate it cause of mpg.
